			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>The Sarasota County Library System has an opening for a full-time librarian at the Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library in Venice, FL.</p>
<p>The 25,000 sf Jacaranda Library is located in South Venice in a neighborhood where visiting the library is part of the community tradition. The interior includes a 100+ seat meeting room, youth activity room, a computer lab and a variety of assistive low-vision equipment. Programs, for all ages, are well attended and the meeting room is used by numerous community groups. The library grounds feature a walking trail with interpretive signs along a pond.</p>

We are seeking an individual with the vision, leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills to direct and inspire its world-renowned Research Library teams.</p>

<p><strong>Detailed Description</strong></p>
<p>The complexity of this opportunity requires a bold and creative leader with broad and far-reaching experience. The Research Library Director will serve as part of the Science Resource Office leadership team, jointly responsible for knowledge generation and stewardship in support of the Lab&#8217;s mission. The successful candidate will direct the Research Library&#8217;s world-class work in applied information science research and the development of digital library applications. In addition, the incumbent will guide collaborative data management and digital repository technology initiatives, further the development of the premier research collections, and be a leader in interpreting and re-imagining the role of a national laboratory library and scientific knowledge center. The incumbent will have the opportunity to guide efforts to increase access to federally funded scientific research. The successful candidate has an opportunity to build on a track record of internationally recognized successful leadership and innovation. As the responsible manager and primary advocate for the Research Library, the incumbent will be responsible for providing direction and leadership in strategic planning; developing and promoting library services and resources; initiating and implementing appropriate technologies; partnering with Laboratory and external community initiatives; budgeting and human resources management. Incumbent will represent LANL in dialogue and development of digital services with leaders of other scientific and research libraries.</p>

<p>· Developing and managing print and manuscript map collections, sensitively building upon existing strengths and exploring new areas for development.</p>
<p>· Coordinating instruction sessions utilizing map collections, developing public programming, and integrating the history of cartography into departmental activities.</p>
<p>· Setting priorities for map collection processing and cataloging.</p>
<p>· Collaborating with colleagues working in areas of collection development, archival and manuscript processing, rare books cataloging, preservation, and digitization.</p>
<p>· Providing reference services and supporting day-to-day operations, which may include some supervision of staff.</p>
<p>· Developing donor and dealer relationships, particularly with map collectors, and cultivating campus and community partners.</p>

<p>Salary and appointment: Appointment will be made at the Librarian level with a salary range of $43,000 to $46,000. Start date is negotiable.
