  1. What was your first job?
    I cooked crabs for Gabler’s in Aberdeen, MD.
  2. If you were to write a personal memoir, what would you name it? 
    What Happens After
  3. Where did you grow up? 
    Since my dad was in the military, all over the place. New Jersey, Hawaii, Michigan, Germany, and Maryland are what I remember. Wr counted one time, and found that I’ve gotten mail at 38 different addresses.
  4. What is your favorite class you’ve taught?
    The Practicum class for our Project IDEA students. Free-flowing conversation and discussion of what we mean when we say “innovation” and “entrepreneurship”, among other things, is a really great way to teach, and for me to keep learning.
  5. What is your favorite place to grab dinner in Tallahassee?
    A totally unfair question; it’s like asking, “What is you one favorite movie?” when there are so many considerations to take into account. For steak: Longhorn. For burgers: Well’s Bros. For orange chicken: Far East Cuisine. For hibachi: Osaka.
  6. What are your hobbies outside of work? 
    Board games and card games; I play as often as I can. And also when I can, ballroom dancing.
  7. Have you always wanted to teach? 
    Yes, always.
  8. What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to or where would you like to go?
    Prague, Czech Republic. I’ve been twice, and would go again in a heartbeat, if given the chance.
  9. How many football games have you attended? 
    Zero, and it will stay that way. I’m not a big fan of crowds, you see.
  10. Proudest career/life moment?
    Egad, so many to choose from: joining the Army; getting my Sergeant’s stripes; watching my son come into the world; standing by my wife in times of trouble; the first time is was called “Dr. Landbeck”.
  11. What’s your favorite band? 
    Band? Pink Floyd. Performer? Sarah Vaughn.
  12. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? 
    The hard way ain’t near as hard as the easy way. – Sir Terry Pratchett, via Emse Weatherwax
  13. If money were no object, how would you spend your days? 
    Building things, probably furniture.
  14. What is your favorite book and why? 
    Another unfair question, much like for the restraint question. My favorite series is the Discworld series by the aforementioned Terry Pratchett, particularly the Watch and Weatherwax novels.
  15. If you could be famous for something, what would it be? 
    Being a good person, helping others, raising my kids to be decent people.
  16. What Jeopardy category could you clear, no problem? 
    I can’t think of one.
  17. Do you have any pets?
    Yes, three cats
  18. When did you start working at Florida State University?
    The first time, in 1998. The second time, in 2005. The third time, the beginning of my professional career, 2013.
  19. What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
    Deadpool
  20. What is the best part about your job? 
    That it’s never the same thing twice. There’s always something new going on.
