Social Media (paid Intern)

Description:
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for promoting the key messages for the State University System Chancellor and for the Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System of Florida. The coordinator will use various social media platforms; identify and recommend to the director new social media platforms or strategies to proactively push out messages; reach out to media and other audiences and cultivate an accessible, approachable web presence. The coordinator reports to the Director of Communications to ensure coordinated messaging efforts.
 
Job duties include:
*Twitter: Promote State University System news, publish the weekly Did U Know feature and Think Florida features, and connect with other institutions. Audience: universities, students, media, businesses
*Facebook: Provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the work of the Board of Governors– including messages from the Chancellor and individual Board members, promote and showcase events, curate State University System photo albums. Audience: universities, students.
*YouTube: Archive Board of Governors’ meeting videos, promote video messages from the Chancellor or individual Board members, curate video news clips (and Florida Channel clips if possible). Audience: media for meeting catch-up, stakeholders interested in higher education
*Daily clips: Collect and distribute daily news clips about the State University System, Board of Governors and other pertinent higher education issues.
*Rotating homepage stories: Find interesting campus or research news, including photos, from each university for the monthly rotating homepage feature.
*Press releases: Draft press releases for distribution to the media.
*Advertising materials: Create simple graphics and advertising using publisher or other design software
 
Minimum Qualifications
*Full time student with background in marketing and/or communications;
*Available to work each weekday morning (exact timing is flexible);
*Excellent writing skills.
 
Preferred
*Senior or Graduate Student with 3.0 GPA;
*Experience with Adobe Suite, Movie Maker, and other creative software.

Hiring Range

Internships
To receive college credit or recognition under the university’s guidelines, the student must meet the enrollment deadlines and any other requirements of their university. Students are advised to meet with their academic advisor or similar position for guidance.
