MAJOR FUNCTION: The Digital Communications Specialist is housed within the Office of Communications and Marketing and reports to the Manager of Content and Digital Strategy. The Digital Communications Specialist will collaborate with other members of the Communications and Marketing team as well as department leads and content managers from across the College to write, edit, develop and maintain compelling and relevant content for the Web, email communications and digital marketing efforts. This individual must have strong writing skills and a working knowledge of HTML as the position will serve as a primary administrator of the public website, monitoring how content performs, recommending enhancements and making edits as needed so that content remains up-to-date, ADA compliant and consistent with TCC’s style and Web guidelines. Responsibilities include performing regular and as-needed audits and analytics reports to monitor SEO and content performance, using performance indicators and industry best practices to continuously enhance efforts. Responsibilities also include providing ongoing CMS (content management system) support and face-to-face training for new and existing content managers, and researching and providing feedback to the team on industry developments in higher education websites and digital communications for advertising and recruiting purposes.

MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Information Technology or a related field, three years of related experience, and also able to provide a body of work through a maintained website, blog, LinkedIn Profile, digital portfolio or other platform or a combination of education and experience may substitute for required degree.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of HTML. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and partners. Excellent strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills. Superior editing and proofreading skills, as well as demonstrable professional experience writing for the Web. Experience with SEO (search engine optimization) and a general understanding of how to use search insights to drive content improvements. Some experience working in Workday, TerminalFour, iModules or other CMS systems preferred.
