Library Director, Georgia Military College, Milledgeville, GA

Georgia Military College (GMC) announces an opening for a full-time Library Director. This position is within Academic Affairs and will report directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean of Faculty.  The Library Director is responsible for managing the GMC library system from a central library located on the GMC-Milledgeville campus,. The GMC library system supports 500 students who attend the GMC Preparatory  School—grades 6-12—and an annual enrollment of approximately 12, 000 college students who are enrolled in online and in-seat courses taught at nine GMC campuses. The position has full benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Established in 1879 by the Georgia General Assembly, Georgia Military College’s main campus is located in Milledgeville, Georgia, in Georgia’s Lake Country, near Lake Sinclair.  Milledgeville served as Georgia’s capital from 1804-1868. GMC is a coeducational, public, independent, two-year, higher-education institution.

REQUIREMENTS.  The successful candidate will (1) possess a master’s degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association; (2) possess a minimum of five years’ experience with increasing administrative responsibilities in an academic library including budgetary, accreditation, assessment, and management experience; (3) have demonstrated successful leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills working with a diverse on-site and online population; (4) have demonstrated expertise with information technology and library systems; (5) have demonstrated expertise in supporting and training faculty members to use library resources; (6) have demonstrated expertise in supporting and training students to use library resources; (7) have demonstrated expertise in the management of digital library resources and programs; (8) have experience in providing library support to library operations located at distant campuses; (9) have experience providing library support to students enrolled in online programs; (10) have experience in higher education library services at the undergraduate level; (11) have a strong customer-service perspective; (12) have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
