Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years* experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.

Experience working successfully in a team-oriented environment.

Experience prioritizing, organizing and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Experience conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users.

Experience with documenting processes (new and existing).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of managers and subject matter experts.

Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures used within the telecommunications, network, and data fields.

Valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain.
Background Check Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
Confidentiality Policy
This position requires compliance with University confidentiality policies.
Preferred
Familiarity with Rancid, Nagios, MRTG, CVS
Familiarity with Aruba wireless networks.
Familiarity with both wired and wireless network operations and support of those networks is a plus.

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Responsibilities
Designs, installs, configures, monitors, troubleshoots and manages a diverse base of installed networking equipment, which encompasses both wired and wireless data networks. Collects and monitors data for system usage, performance, and vulnerabilities in support for ITS staff and members of the campus network. Advises management and team members to revisions of established policies, procedures, and standards.

Designs, installs, configures, monitors, troubleshoots and manages a diverse base of installed networking equipment, operating software, and/or network security applications, which encompasses wired and wireless data networks servicing voice, video and data applications on campus. A State vehicle, golf cart, utility vehicle, or all-terrain vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid driver’s license will be needed in order to operate vehicle.

Collects and analyzes usage and performance monitoring data to allow for the diagnosis of problems on the network and allowing for appropriate action as needed to assure network integrity and operation.

Analyzes networks for security vulnerabilities and breaches.

Provides technical advice and consultation to ITS staff as well as users of the campus network concerning complex network – related problems and applications. Advises management and team members on the revision of established policies, procedures, and standards to insure that current policies remain up-to-date and relevant in a dynamic networking environment. Interfaces with representatives from other universities and vendors.

May function as project team leader responsible for a coordinated effort in pursuit of solutions to complex networking problems. This leadership would include: a)effectively distributing the workload; b) providing advice and consultation in
networking design and operations; and c) coordinating vendors.

Other duties as needed and assigned to include on-call duties.

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
