20 Questions with Selena Snowden

  1. What was your first job?
    Clerk in retail store
  1. If you were to write a personal memoir, what would you name it?
    Can you hear me now?
  1. Where did you grow up?
    I grew up in North Florida (Apalachicola to Panama City) with the exception of four years (3rd through 6th grade) I lived in South Alabama.
  1. What is your favorite class you’ve taught?
    Introduction to Audiology
  1. What is your favorite place to grab dinner in Tallahassee?
    My ‘go to’ place is Bonefish.
  1. What are your hobbies outside of work?
    I teach baton lessons and love gardening and working out (running, hiking, gym).
  1. Have you always wanted to teach?  
    No but I’ve wanted to be an audiologist since I was in high school.
  1. What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to or where would you like to go?
    Guatemala is my favorite place I’ve traveled thus far. I hope to visit Paris one day.
  1. How many football games have you attended?
    FSU or any football games? I attended many FSU games growing up…but not many since I’ve worked at FSU. My dad was a high school football coach and so I attended more football games as a child than many people attend in their lifetime.
  2. Proudest career/life moment?
    I don’t have one moment in time that stands out more than others. I try to live in the small daily victories instead of placing importance in single events.
  3. What’s your favorite band?
    I don’t really have a favorite. I love many different forms of music (almost anything but heavy metal). What I listen to depends on the day and what I am doing at that moment.
  4. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
    It is ok to go to bed angry. Sometimes you wake up with a new perspective.
  5. If money were no object, how would you spend your days?
    You would find me raising my children and doing for my family…….on a large plot of land….with chickens and a pond…..within a short drive (or walk) of the beach.
  6. What is your favorite book and why?
    The Bible. It has been more influential on my life than any other book I have read.
  7. If you could be famous for something, what would it be?
    Helping others
  8. What Jeopardy category could you clear, no problem?
    Stupid things teenagers do
  9. Do you have any pets?
    We have two dogs (Chance and Hattie), one fish (Bachus) and two turtles (Carl and Timmy).
  10. When did you start working at Florida State University?
    August 2004
  11. What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
    The Hunger Games: Mockingjay
  12. What is the best part about your job?
    The variety…there is never a dull moment. I like making a difference in the lives of others.
