CCI Bids Farewell to 6 Faculty, Staff

The College of Communication and Information (CCI) serves hundreds of students, who are supported by a team of faculty and staff who keep the college running and students inspired. Six members of CCI are moving on: Bowie Kortla, Felipe and Betty Korzenny, Frank Hart, Peter Jörgensen, and Julie Stierwalt.

Frank Hart is retiring this May, after serving CCI as the Building Manager since 2002. He’s heading into retirement with his trusty cowboy hat, looking forward to being an active member of the Veterans Memorial Railroad and the American Legion.

Hart says he will miss the students most. “The students at all levels that I have had the pleasure to work with and just plain get to know.”

Peter Jörgensen, Ph.D., Director of Academic & Research Technologies, is going to be retiring. Jörgensen joined the College in 2006 and is looking forward to camping, traveling, growing hops and renovating his home during his retirement.

Bowie Kortla worked with the School of Information and is looking forward to her retirement.

Felipe and Betty Korzenny are retiring this summer. The couple leaves behind the Center for Hispanic Marketing, which they founded in 2001 and today is one of three programs of it’s kind in the United States.

Julie Stierwalt, Ph.D., has been teaching and researching in the School of Communication Science and Disorders since 2001. Stierwalt will be moving on to a position with Mayo Clinic in Minnesota as a Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Speech Pathology in the Department of Neurology.

“I will miss the “family” of colleagues that I have worked with in SCSD and CCI over the years, and the bright, engaged students that we are fortunate to attract to the field,” she shared.
