Internship — Disability Rights Florida (Tallahassee)

Paid undergraduate 20 hour/week internship for students majoring in a College of Communication & Information or English Department major, such as:

  • Advertising;
  • Information, Communication and Technology;
  • Media/Communication Studies;
  • Media Production;
  • Public Relations;
  • Creative Writing; or
  • Editing, Writing, and Media.

Pay range $8-12 per hour depending on candidate knowledge, skills and abilities.

Disability Rights Florida, the state’s premier statewide disability legal rights advocacy organization, is offering a paid undergraduate internship to a qualified candidate for the Fall 2015 semester.

Disability Rights Florida uses the web, Constant Contact, Facebook, Twitter, print publications and a range of other means of communication to target information to key audiences within the disability and legal community. We offer services ranging from legislative policy analysis and advocacy to individual information and referral and free confidential legal or advocacy services. Our staff also conducts legal rights trainings and performs outreach about our mission, priorities, accomplishments and services.

In addition to gaining experience relevant to your specific major, all interns will gain knowledge and experience with disability accessibility, language accessibility and cultural competence.

Duties

Duties include:

  • website (content development and content updates)
  • layout and design (flyers, ads, other materials)
  • electronic newsletter (layout and writing)
  • writing and editing (for website, blogs, other media)
