OPS Technical Writer/IR Position

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

This is highly technical work, primarily concerned with both the ability to research, collect and assemble technical data while assisting in the maintenance of server hosted operating systems, Lottery-specific vendor application software, and their supporting infrastructure.  This position’s essential role is to be a technical writer through presentation and secondly to assist with the additional duties as a system and network administrator.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Review and edit technical information for readability, clarity of expression, continuity of thought, correct use and presentation.
  • Prepares writing, formatting, and editorial guidelines or procedures for the preparation of departmental technical documents and reports.
  • Prepares print-ready copies of final versions of documents for distribution, and obtains necessary editorial and printing acceptance for documents that are submitted.
  • Designs and implements backout/backup/restore procedures.
  • Utilize a broad knowledge for building and managing MS Windows and Networking equipment.
  • Assists in evaluating new network and Microsoft Windows hardware and software.
  • Assists in the installation of system software into test lab and production environments.
  • Perform administrative duties, including submission of timesheets, in a prompt manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Knowledge of data processing concepts, terminology and applications, and systems and network terminology and concepts.
  • Knowledge of the client/server development environment.
  • Ability to think logically, analyze and solve problems.

  • Skills in effective communication both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively to non-technical staff and management.
  • Ability to develop and present technical documentation, specifications and reports.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to research and develop technical solutions to problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments

Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required).

 

Maintains strict confidentiality of information learned while working with the Florida Lottery, whether learned through assigned duties or through working with other units. The types of confidential information may include, but are not limited to, payroll information, budget matters, policy decisions, tax matters, employee disciplinary issues, and other personnel data.
