Department -Dean College of Fine Arts

Responsibilities

Designs original graphics, brochures, flyers, advertisements, banners, and promotional items for the College of Fine Arts. Operates a variety of hardware and software to design, create, and alter media images. Uses advanced knowledge of design principles to select typefaces, layouts, and other related aesthetics in College publications and materials. Creates media for use in a verity of formats including video, slide, printed pages, and other formats. Creates design of highly visible college communications including newsletters and websites for distribution to students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and other college constituents.
Collaborates with College and departmental representatives to determine project goals, deadlines, and format. Plans and oversees work and production schedules for print and computer publishing activities. Works with outside contractors and internal personnel as appropriate to develop and coordinate specifications, scheduling, monitoring production, and delivery. Consults in the proper preparation and presentation of materials.

Develop and implement College-wide branding and marking strategy in cooperation with the office of the Dean. Create standards and policies to enforce College brand in all print and electronic materials. Review current departmental marketing techniques to improve effectiveness, awareness, and understanding of the College’s brand and goals. Improve effectiveness of current communications and publications by staying abreast of current trends and techniques.  Meets with University level personnel to ensure marketing standards for the University are being met in print and online materials for the College to optimize effectiveness. Serves on University wide committees and projects as determined by the Dean.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 2 years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years is required. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing is required, as is knowledge of the principle and practices of graphic design. Experience using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or comparable software is required, as is experience with design and photo editing software and programs such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, and InDesign). Qualified candidates will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and must be able to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Preferred

A Bachelors degree in graphic design or related field is preferred.

Anticipated Salary Range

At or around $30,000.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
