OPS WinTel Position

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

This is highly technical work, primarily concerned with the installing and maintaining server hosted operating systems, specifically Microsoft Windows Server, Lottery-specific vendor application software, and the supporting infrastructure. This position may require planning and implementing security measures to safeguard computer resources.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Installs system software into test lab and production environments.
  • Primarily responsible for building and managing MS Windows and Networking equipment
  • Reviews planning and implementation documentation and verifies successful installations.
  • Research and apply maintenance as necessary.
  • Designs and implements backout/backup/restore procedures.
  • Evaluates new network and Microsoft Windows hardware and software.
  • Maintains familiarity with supporting software and infrastructure, including Microsoft Windows server and associated roles and features.
  • Perform administrative duties, including submission of timesheets, in a prompt manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of data processing concepts, terminology and applications, and systems and network terminology and concepts.
  • Knowledge of the client/server development environment.
  • Ability to think logically, analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively to non-technical staff and management.
  • Ability to develop and present technical documentation, specifications and reports.
  • Ability to collaborate with appropriate sources.
  • Ability to research and develop technical solutions to problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required).

 

Maintains strict confidentiality of information learned while working with the Florida Lottery, whether learned through assigned duties or through working with other units. The types of confidential information may include, but are not limited to, payroll information, budget matters, policy decisions, tax matters, employee disciplinary issues, and other personnel data.
