Current Positions Available

The John G. Riley Center/Museum is looking for a part-time professional student to join our fast-paced team that specializes in documenting, preserving and illuminating African American History and Culture and its blended inter-relationships with Native American and European history and promoting the John Gilmore Riley Center/Museum as a destination for tourism and economic development.

Business Administration Internship

Business Administration interns should be a motivated student or recent graduate who will participate in the organization’s day–to-day operations that include general office administration, accounting, HR, and involvement in some long-range strategic planning. This internship is an opportunity for an accounting, facilities management or business administration student to learn more about non-profit business administration tactics. The intern will also have exposure to all areas of the organization such as digital media, distribution, and marketing. Depending on interest and ability,some students may be able to develop independent research projects that support our mission.

Integrated Marketing Internship

Integrated Marketing interns are responsible for developing and managing comprehensive integrated marketing campaigns. They manage all components of campaign development, implementation and measurement and must be able to make sure that all communications efforts – from PR, to marketing, to visual, to social media – are working together in harmony.

Museum Specialist Internship

The Museusm Specialist intern is responsible for facilitating participants’ learning by exploring hands on activities, presenting demonstrations, and managing Riley Museum collections. Responsibilities also include developing and coordinating educational programs that correspond with the Riley Museum’s exhibits and collections.

Special Events Internship

The special events intern will assist with the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of Riley Museum events including festivals, private parties, meetings, and all buildings and grounds rental activities. Special Events interns will work in conjunction with other departments to manage volunteer coordination and supervision for events,  and manage the design, copy and production deadlines for all event collateral including invitation (electronic and hardcopy), program, and signage.
