CI students attend STARS Conference

Nine College of Information students joined Dean Larry Dennis and Assistant Professor Mia Lustria in attending the STARS Alliance Celebration in Charlotte, NC, held August 11 – 15: Jenniferanne Broido, Danny Casale, Sabrina Fontaine, April Johnson, Chris Landbeck, Rachel Masters, Emily Meyer, Kristin Norena, and Emily Robarge. Joined by five FSU Computer Science students, they participated in project planning, community initiatives, team-building and leadership development of the program.

The STARS Alliance is an 11 university consortium that received a $2 million National Science Foundation grant to broaden participation in computer-related academic programs last year. The project is aimed at encouraging women, underrepresented minorities, and persons with disabilities to pursue careers in computer science and information technology. Assistant Professor Ebe Randeree is replacing Dr. Lustria as the FSU liaison to the STARS Alliance; for more information, contact him at eranderee@ci.fsu.edu.
