Job Summary:

Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation – from concept initiation through installation – of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects. Imagineering is headquartered in Glendale, California, with affiliated offices and facilities in North Hollywood, California and Florida; as well as satellite branches at every Disney Theme Park location around the world.

Responsibilities:

As a Communications Intern you will…

  • Provide overall support for a variety of WDI Communications and discipline-specific projects which support overall WDI and WDPR Public Affairs goals and objectives
  • Work with requesting partners and organizations to determine, prepare and fulfill details, media and other project needs
  • Keep Imagineer bios and headshots updated
  • Support overall department and organization (ensure processes are consistent and leveraged across all teams, manage office coverage)
  • Write and produce video stories and updates for internal communications vehicles
  • Help coordinate WDI Communications leadership work communications forums, and special programs and events as assigned
  • Research, support and maintain project trackers with content, organization, consistency and efficiency
  • Write fact sheets, project summaries, message points, etc. to support internal and external communications needs

Basic Qualifications:

You Bring…

  • Previous reporting/writing/editing experience with a student or professional publication in print, television or online media
  • Proven ability to develop effective communication products
  • Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to develop presentation materials and utilize Keynote
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills crucial to effective interaction with all levels of the organization including senior-level executives and their assistants

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated graphic design experience
  • Video editing experience
  • Previous experience in media relations or with a PR Agency (or related)
  • Previous experience as a Disney Cast Member
  • Proven experience with social media in a professional or academic setting

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or must have graduated from an accredited college/university within the past 6 months, earning a degree in Communications, Marketing Communications, Visual Communications or a closely related field

Preferred Education

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Additional Information:

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Professional internship at the time of application
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work location
  • Must be able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Required Materials:

  • Candidates may be required to complete a writing sample as part of the interview process. Instructions will be provided at that time.

Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are January through June 2020. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
