Georgia Tech Library – Visiting ACRL Diversity Resident (Temporary)

The Georgia Tech Library invites early career librarians and archivists from diverse backgrounds to apply for our diversity residency position.  The position is designed to provide an early-career librarian and/or archivist with an opportunity for rapid professional growth while bringing new perspectives and fresh ideas to the Georgia Tech Library and will last up to two years. The first year of the program will be dedicated to orientation to the profession of academic librarianship and/or archival work through experience in units within the library. During the final stage of the program, the Resident will specialize in their chosen area(s). They will work on a capstone project suited to their professional interests and to the needs of the library. A goal of this project is for the Resident, working independently and with a mentor, to develop, complete, and report research or creative work at a conference and/or as a publication.

The focus of this residency is to highlight and increase the diversity of entry-level candidates for faculty positions at major research libraries. Please note that this is a limited-term, non-tenure track faculty appointment with no guarantee of permanent placement at the Georgia Tech Library at the conclusion of the residency.

Compensation

This is a benefits-eligible position with a projected salary of $55,000.

Faculty Status

This is a one-year, entry-level Faculty position with an effort distribution of 80% excellence in assigned duties, 10% scholarship, and 10% professional service to the library profession. The reappointment for the second year is expected upon the successful completion of the first-year program.
