Ad Team wins “Best Presentation” category at the district competition

Arrowhead Advertising, the FSU student advertising team, won the category for “Best Presentation” at the district National Student Advertising Competition of the American Advertising Federation (AAF).  The event took place at the OMNI Hotel in Jacksonville on April 18 and 19, 2013.

The team was also awarded three out of the four available scholarships.  They placed third overall among eight teams at this district competition.

“The students work exceptionally hard on the campaign each year, and it gives them an opportunity to conduct research, develop a strategy, produce materials in multiple media and present to industry professionals,” said Steve McDowell, director of the School of Communication.

More than 150 colleges and universities compete each year in the National Student Advertising Competition.  In the past, Arrowhead Advertising has won first place in the district championship for 7 out of 10 years.  They have also placed in the top 10 in the national competition for four consecutive years from 2006-10.

“Many of our students have secured great internships or been hired at some of the top ad agencies in the country as a result of their work on this annual project,” said Barry Solomon, research associate in Communication and the team’s faculty adviser.

The 2013 Arrowhead Advertising team members are Courtney Andrews, Aaron Davis, Katie Dyer, Samara Gerard, Laura Golly, Emily Hall, Rachel Johnson, Peter Krause, Laura Linthicum, Erica Lovelace, Stephanie Mack, Josh Mesnik, Tifani Mullen, Hannah Nowalk, Natalie Pardo, Jackie Schultz, Lindsay Strauss, Andrea Todd, Nicole Regan, and Montana Zion.
