We’re looking for a talented and creative person who is willing to be completely immersed in the internet. The hours for this person will typically be M-F 3:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. but may vary as needed.
Responsibilities: – Report, write, select and publish original news and other stories to assigned station website. – Ensure timeliness, consistency and accuracy of stories on the site. -Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content and review and post/reject comments per station commenting policy. – React to and post breaking news quickly and accurately and keep in constant communication with the station’s news department. – Monitor newscasts, social media trends and other sources for news and distinguish newsworthy stories for the site. – Capture, edit and post still images and video to the site. – Work independently and use individual judgment on content to post to sites. – Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred (Degree in communications, public relations, or related field), Strong writing skills, Understand the social media universe, Create, edit and/or manage news stories, photos, videos and interactive content for all platforms (website, mobile devices, newsletters, text messages, etc.),Demonstrate creativity and documented immersion in social media, Experience with digital video editing is preferred, Must be able to work well with a diverse group of people, Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines, Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
