Mary Zychowski-Ashlock is a career seminole, graduating from Florida State University with her Bachelor’s, Master’s and finally a Ph.D. in Speech Communication in 1989. Since leaving Florida State, she’s found a successful teaching career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville teaching in the Department of Communication.
Upon graduation, Mary went to work at the University of South Carolina – Sumter campus for four years in Enrollment Management. She then accepted a role as a senior consultant at Cornelius & Associates, a training and consulting firm that specializes in helping clients improve business results in the areas of teamwork, leadership development and project management. During her 13 years with the company, she was able to work with Fortune 500 companeies in a variety of service and manufacturing industries.
Today, she lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband Will who is also an alumnus of Florida State and UPS pilot. They have two children, a 13 year old daughter and 15 year old son.
Through her work at the university, she was awarded the first Mentor of the Year Award. The award was given during the 19th annual Red and Black Scholar Reception at University of Louisville. The award is voted on by student-athletes as someone who has inspired them most to succeed in the classroom by offering support and guidance in their academic careers. Mary is the first person at University of Louisville to be given the award.
