Description:
1. Develops and maintains knowledge of the market for medical/health sciences library resources. Stay abreast of current developments and trends in the acquisition of library materials, the publishing market, and new technologies.
2. Evaluates current acquisitions and collection development policies and procedures and recommend appropriate changes, especially in response to changing technology. Provides planning for expanding the collection as well as removing outdated material.
3. Serves as primary contact for vendor and publisher representatives and tracks vendor performance.
4. Works closely with Liaison Librarians to evaluate the current collection, determines areas of need, and provide suggestions for the acquisition of materials.
5. Works closely with Technical Services staff to acquire and maintain all library resources, including journals, print monographs, electronic resources, and databases.
6. Provides reference and liaison services, including instruction, to one or more HPD Colleges in conjunction with the Reference Department.
7. Implements, leads, and builds inter-departmental partnerships for projects related to library initiatives, such as 3-D printing and virtual reality.
8. Collaborates with faculty in research projects and writing for publication.
9. May be expected to assume responsibility for supervision of library support staff, volunteers, and/or student employees.
10. Completes special projects as assigned.
11. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
