CCI Associate Dean and Alumna Present at Tech Conference

Associate Dean Ebe Randeree of the College of Communication and Information (CCI) attended the Innovation, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Network (ITEN) WIRED TechNet CyberCoast conference in Pensacola Beach, Florida, on October 16-18, 2024. The conference brings together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and educators for three days of learning, collaboration, and community building.

“Representing the College gives me the opportunity to promote our programs at these events. Through my presentations I can talk about the innovations going on at FSU, learning about the opportunities that may be beneficial to us,” said Randeree.

This is Randeree’s twelfth time attending, and seventh time presenting. He presented the session, “Position Yourself to Win on LinkedIn”, with CCI alumna Michelle B Griffin. The two used audience engagement to guide the discussion about how to build a stronger network on LinkedIn.

“Focusing on ‘positioning yourself’ for job searches and personal branding, we shared instant takeaways to attendees’ LinkedIn profiles, stressing the importance of a well-optimized profile that brings you opportunities rather than being passed on to someone else,” shared Griffin. Griffin is a PR, personal branding and LinkedIn visibility speaker and educator who teaches global audiences to become visible and confident to grow their industry presence for next-level opportunities. She has a new book, “Own Your Lane” that will be released in the upcoming months.

Randeree also presented “The Future of Talent Recruitment” which looked at how to train the future and current workforce, options for technology training, industry trends with recruiters/employers, and where improvement is needed.

According to Randeree, “I was able to showcase a model used by the FSU Panama City Ascent.FSU program that addresses K-12 teachers and students, college students, community members, and the military.  The ASCENT model is a great example of a partnership between education and private industry using a comprehensive approach based on professional development, summer camps and bootcamps, to build skills, upskill and reskill the community in various technology certificates, while still offering traditional education models.”

“With a strong technology and military focused network in the Pensacola area, it is important for our students to get connected to the companies and the innovation happening in the area,” Randeree said. “There is a good opportunity for FSU to be more engaged with the Pensacola community and continue to build partnerships across the Panhandle.”
