Communication Alumna Michelle B. Griffin Releases New Book

Michelle B. Griffin, a School of Communication alumna, recently launched Position Yourself: The Four-Step Roadmap to Know, Show, and Grow Your Personal Brand Authority on January 31, 2025. This is her second book, following the success of The LinkedIn Branding Book, which was released in 2022.

With two decades of experience in communications, public relations, and marketing, Griffin has built her career around helping leaders and experts—especially women in business—define and communicate their professional stories.

Position Yourself is a personal branding planner and assessment tool designed to help readers build a strong personal brand that will advance their careers and industry recognition. “You can’t build a brand until you understand what makes you different and how to align that with your professional goals,” she explains.

“This planner is me guiding you through the assessment and actionable steps,” says Griffin. It includes a complimentary workbook, digital scorecard, and custom AI prompts to help recalibrate your goals, positioning, messaging, visibility, and more.

As an Amazon Best-Seller in Global Marketing, the Position Yourself planner introduces Griffin’s signature four-step L.A.N.E.® personal branding roadmap, which serves as the foundation for her books, podcasts, and training workshops designed to help individuals take charge of their professional presence.

“After grad school in California, it was my dream to launch my own [public relations] agency,” said Griffin, reflecting on her early years. “Now, with the power of digital, my branding and communications platform reaches professionals worldwide.”

Griffin credits her time at the College of Communication and Information as “the breeding ground for teamwork, storytelling, and curiosity.” She shared that it was also where her love for internships began.

“FSU played a huge role in shaping my career,” Griffin reflects. “It taught me the value of curiosity, connection, and clear communication, and that’s something I carry with me every day. It’s not just about helping people create brands—it’s about helping them amplify their impact, become known for what they do best, and build lasting recognition.”
