Advanced Feature Students Highlight FSU Day at the Capitol

Students in FSU’s College of Communication and Information (CCI), Advanced Feature course recently took their skills outside of the classroom and to the Florida State Capitol, producing a short video feature on FSU’s Day at the Capitol on Jan. 21. Undergraduate students Alyson Mizanin, Jenny Cen, and John Foreman worked together to document FSU’s presence at the event, highlighting both the excitement of the day and the connections between Florida State students and state leaders.

School of Communication Launches Inaugural Advisory Council

The School of Communication (SCOM) held the first meeting of its inaugural advisory council on Jan. 27, marking a major milestone. The council brings together alumni and industry leaders who represent all academic areas within the school. The group will review curriculum, identify new opportunities for students and faculty, and brainstorm projects that better align with FSU’s strategic decisions, including FSU Health.

Hosted by Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), first-year graduate students in the Tallahassee residential program took part in an interprofessional education (IPE) event. The program stems from a six-year partnership between FSU’s School of Communication Science and Disorders (SCSD) and FAMU’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

SCSD Scholars to Publish Study on AI Use Among CSD Students

SCSD doctoral scholar Holden Allen and undergraduate scholar Hannah Figueras co-authored the manuscript, “Opening Pandora’s Box: Perceptions and Usage of AI by Undergraduate and Graduate CSD Students,” which was recently accepted for publication in Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that features a variety of article types and covers many CSD subject areas.

School of Communication Sciences & Disorders doctoral student Ashley Ippolito had her manuscript, “Children’s written morphology skills demonstrated in third grade narrative responses,” published in Reading & Writing Quarterly: Overcoming Learning Difficulties, a peer-reviewed journal focused on literacy education from preschool through 12th grade.
