School of Communication Science Disorders (SCSD) Professors authored The Morphological Analysis Pathway to Reading (MAP-R) project. One year into the pilot-study, the project has already found great success in Florida schools and been accepted for publication in the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology.

SCOM Student Utilizes Skills Built in the Classroom Both On and Off Campus
Advertising student Chloe Evers has demonstrated the benefits of going the extra mile in college. In addition to her studies, Evers currently holds an executive position with Strike Magazine as the Layout Director and acts as a social media intern with the Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls (CSWG.) Evers has applied her design and advertising skills to real-world projects through these roles. Most recently, Evers contributed to The Period Poverty initiative by creating a month-long social media campaign to drive community awareness. Her dedication to translating classroom knowledge into professional experiences highlights her commitment to making an impact both on and off campus.

In September 2024, iSchool alumnus Raymond Malaspina and former FSU Professor Dr. Yolanda Rankin had their paper, “The Role of Black Feminist Thought in Informal CS Education,” added to the IEEE Database. The paper was accepted for publication after they presented it at the 2023 RESPECT Conference.

The College of Communication and Information congratulates Wade Rogers, a high school student who participated in the Florida State University (FSU) Young Scholars Program in the summer of 2024, for his acceptance into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Rogers credits his acceptance to the time he spent in the Young Scholars program, specifically interning under iSchool Professor Dr. Zhe He in the eHealth Lab.

College of Communication and Information (CCI) Associate Dean Ebe Randeree was presented with a “Leadership and Dedication” award at the TalTech Conference on November 13, 2024. The award read, “In tribute to your many years of leadership and dedication advancing technology and education in our community.” Randeree has worked with the TalTech Alliance for 18 years and served as a board member for five. He was presented the award by Bryan Gibson, who is the Vice Chairman of the TalTech Alliance.

From November 7-8, Information Technology (IT) Student Jennifer Sterling attended the International Radio & Television Society Foundation (IRTS) Multicultural Career Workshop in New York City. “Opportunities to travel, explore my career path, and connect with like-minded students from across the country are rare,” Sterling said. “Being able to take time away from classes and work to focus on my future felt like an immense privilege, one I don’t take for granted.”
