IT and Integrated Marketing Communication alumna Gina Bollotta along with Media Communication Studies student Shayla Simon both participate with the FSU bowling team, which recently advanced to compete for the Helmer Cup. The competition is part of the 2016 Intercollegiate Team Championships, the pinnacle event of the college bowling season. The competition will take place from April 20-23 in Wichita, KS.
Bollotta has played on the team in the past, and today she helps with coaching.
She shares, “It is an incredible honor to have advanced as one of the 16 team to compete for the National Championship. It is just proof that if you set goals and work hard as a team to do whatever it takes to achieve them, you will find yourselves in the post season competing for championship.”
To prepare for the competition, the bowlers will do a lot of the things that have brought them success throughout the season to improve their weaknesses and reinforce their strengths. One major focus will be keeping composure and stepping up to win despite facing pressure and adversity.
Bollotta explains, “We are going to target our mental games and work with our mental skills coaches to make sure that we are prepared to maintain a balanced focus throughout the event.”
