What was your first job?
Mowing lawns as a kid. Stetson Assistant Alumni Director as an adult.
If you were to write a personal memoir, what would you name it?
Trying.
Where did you grow up?
Venice, Florida.
What is your favorite class you’ve taught? Speech.
What is your favorite place to grab dinner in Tallahassee? Madison Social, because it’s owned and run by former FSU Communication students.
What are your hobbies outside of work? Gym, reading, biking, travel, theatre, film.
Have you always wanted to teach? No, I fell into it by accident.
What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to or where would you like to go? London, best city in the world.
How many football games have you attended? Hundreds. My first FSU game was with my grandfather when I was a little kid… I’ve been to just about every home game since.
Proudest career/life moment? FSU distinguished teacher award… and anytime an afraid student gets up and gives a speech.
What’s your favorite band? Fleetwood Mac or The Avett Brothers
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Never say, “That’s not my job.”
If money were no object, how would you spend your days? Reading, going to the theatre.
What is your favorite book and why? David Copperfield, because it captures London perfectly.
If you could be famous for something, what would it be?
Teaching well.
What Jeopardy category could you clear, no problem? Theatre history.
Do you have any pets? Yes – a dog, Barron named after Dr. and Mrs. Eric Barron
When did you start working at Florida State University? 1993.
What was the last movie you saw in theaters? WILD, recommend it to everyone.
What is the best part about your job? That it’s at FSU and the students.
