The James E. Brooks Library announces a graduate assistantship program for individuals who currently hold an MLS or equivalent and who desire a second subject masters degree.  This one-year program, with a possible one-year extension, allows an individual to study in any of the University’s 28 graduate programs while gaining valuable professional experience in an academic library.  Ideal for new or experienced librarians, candidates must apply to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research at CWU and be accepted into a program prior to being accepted as a paid library graduate assistant.

Total benefits include a stipend for work in the library of $8,100 per academic year, plus paid tuition, medical insurance and health-center fees equaling approximately $10,000 per academic year.  Summer study and employment opportunities may also be available.

Opportunities will be available for candidates to gain professional experience in all departments in the library, which include:  reference, instruction, library technology and systems, circulation and public services, technical services, outreach, archives and records management, government publications and maps.
