COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Established in 2004 as a self-funded government organization, SIPA serves as the oversight body of
the Colorado.gov portal. Colorado.gov is the gateway to Colorado government and it is intended to be
Colorado’s single most comprehensive delivery channel for e-Government services. SIPA’s vision is to
transform Colorado government service delivery through the use of technology, allowing a single point
of contact for members of the public to access state and local government information, products, and
services. In addition to free websites built on the Drupal 7 platform, SIPA provides technology
solutions including Google Apps for Government, electronic payment processing (credit and debit
card), geospatial maps, CRM tools, and cellular mapping solutions.

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN:
SIPA is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter Communications Intern for summer 2014. The
Communications Intern will report directly to the Communications and Customer Manager and will
have the opportunity to work in areas of social media, public relations, media relations, marketing,
communications and customer relations. This person must demonstrate organizational skills, strong
writing skills, oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, knowledge and experience in
graphic design and social media including Facebook and Twitter.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in creating and managing a social media plan for the organization
• Develop articles and content for SIPA’s email marketing campaigns
• Monitor content and requests on SIPA’s social media sites
• Write press releases and story pitches for SIPA events, milestones and partnerships
• Track media coverage of SIPA by monitoring local publications and news-based websites
• Research media opportunities, reporters, and stories related to SIPA, government news and
trends
• Help manage and organize media contacts and distribution lists for press releases and
announcements
• Assist in the development of new marketing materials including copy writing and copy editing
• Organize and select photos for marketing materials and the web
• Assist in managing the organizations’ website — responsibilities include performing regular
content audits and updating web pages as needed
• Provide administrative support in all areas of marketing and communications
• Engage with SIPA customers for follow up, scheduling appointments and resolving issues
• Assist with customer leads and CRM (Saleforce.com) management

HOURS:
• Internship duration is 3 months during the summer of 2014, beginning the internship in June
2014 and ending in August 2014.
• Weekly hour requirements are between 12-16 hours, to be conducted within the timeframe of
a standard work week (Monday — Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
• SIPA will take any necessary steps with the educational institution in order to acquire college
credit for the internship QUALIFICATIONS:
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Strong writing skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be currently in school, or a recent grad, for under grad or graduate degree in the field of
public relations, communications, marketing, advertising or a similar focus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Experience in social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
• Experience in Adobe programs including, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
Salary: $10 -$15 per hour depending on experience
