Leon County Government is seeking a qualified Graphics & Digital Design Intern for the 2023 fall semester.

 
About Leon County Community and Media Relations
Leon County’s Community and Media Relations (CMR) department proactively facilitates the accurate, effective, timely and consistent flow of public information to internal and external parties of interest, provides community outreach, and serves as the County’s liaison with its media partners.
 
CMR internships offer university students interested and skilled in graphic design, photography, and digital/visual arts opportunities to work alongside the County’s graphic designers.
 
Description
The Graphics and Digital Design Intern will shadow and assist Leon County’s Graphic Designer in creating collateral to promote County programs, initiatives, and special events using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, and other specialized software. The position involves the following:
  • Photographing County events and performing post-processing edits
  • Maintaining online photo gallery, adding new event photos and pages as necessary
  • Designing marketing materials, including printed materials, presentations, and digital graphics used to promote County programs, initiatives, and special events
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Work is performed mainly indoors. Desk work, standing, walking, concentration, and computer work are some of the physical and mental demands of the position.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detail. Creativity with a passion for public service.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program during the internship.
Qualified candidates must have a strong interest in, or are seeking a degree in, digital media, communications, public affairs/relations, media and/or journalism. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure are a must. Meticulous attention to detail in writing and editing is also necessary.
 
Additional Information
This is an unpaid, in-person internship, requiring a minimum commitment of 12 hours per week. Students may earn academic credit while working in our office. The Graphics & Digital Design Intern (CMR) will work in Leon County’s Community and Media Relations Department located in the Leon County Courthouse at 301 South Monroe Street.
 
Community & Media Relations is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evening and weekend event work may be required. The internship begins Monday, August 28, and runs through Friday, December 1.
