STEM Virtual (or f2f) Internship

Overview:

The the Leon Levy Dental Medicine Library internship provides a self-motivated individual experience in the operations of a small academic health science library. The Leon Levy Dental Library is part of Penn’s STEM Libraries  and specifically supports the School of Dental Medicine.

Remote work is a possibility.
Responsibilities:
The Dental Library Intern will be responsible for assisting the librarian with

  • Research and instruction activities, including production of systematic reviews.
  • Production of altmetrics measures (Scholarly Commons / social media).
  • Student outreach activities – classes, fairs, tabling.
  • Student yearbook project.
  • Surveying projects of faculty and students.
  • Developing online guides for students and faculty.
  • Promotional activities.

Additionally, the intern will regularly attend continuing education courses online/in-person provided by the Penn Libraries.

Requirements:

The intern will be trained and mentored. All that is required is for the intern to be open to learning, willing to share their knowledge, and appreciate novel ideas. Previous customer service experience is a plus.

This internship is for students in an ALA-accredited graduate program in library/information science, though students in other graduate programs will be considered. Internship is intended for 11-month commitment, but we will consider applications for one full academic year (9 months) as well. The position is for UP TO  20 hours a week. Hours may be adjusted if student needs to work fewer hours.
