Description:

The Press Office of the Department of Environmental Protection is looking for a public relations intern to join our team for the fall semester. Candidates should have strong writing skills, familiarity with AP style and an enthusiastic personality for learning in this fast paced working environment. Interns can look forward to gaining hands-on experience in media relations and public relations writing at the lead agency for environmental management and stewardship in Florida.

 

There is an opportunity for experienced candidates to be hired as paid, part-time employees.

 

 

Interns will participate in a variety of projects, which may include:

– Answering and facilitating media requests from members of the press.

– Writing and editing a variety of written communication such as press releases, communications plans and talking points.

– Assisting with social media outreach.

 

Qualifications:

– Exceptional English and AP style writing skills.

– Public Relations experience a plus.

– Punctuality, professionalism and willingness to learn.

– Excellent communication skills.

– Proficiency with social media outlets.
