Description:
The Press Office of the Department of Environmental Protection is looking for a public relations intern to join our team for the spring or summer semesters. Candidates should have strong writing skills, familiarity with AP style and an enthusiastic personality for learning in this fast-paced working environment. Applicants must be available between 12-5 on M/W/F and/or 8-12 on T/TH during the spring. Candidates without this availability will not be considered. Interns can look forward to gaining hands-on experience in media relations and public relations writing at the lead agency for environmental management and stewardship in Florida.
Interns will participate in a variety of projects, which may include:
– Answering and facilitating media requests.
– Writing and editing a variety of written communication such as press releases, communications plans, and talking points.
– Assistance with social media outreach
Qualifications:
– Exceptional English and AP style writing skills
– Public Relations or Journalism experience a plus
– Punctuality, professionalism, and willingness to learn
– Excellent communication skills
– Proficiency with social media outlets
