Social Media Intern

The Jim Moran Institute (JMI) in the College of Business is looking for an unpaid intern to assist with social media, communications and marketing efforts. The intern will report directly to the Communications and Marketing Director for JMI. This internship offers the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge regarding communications and marketing based on the philosophy of an automobile industry tycoon.

Jim Moran was the founder of the most successful automobile distributorship in the world, Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET), with the rights to distribute Toyota products in the Southeast United States. SET’s parent company, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., is no. 27 on Forbes’ list of “America’s Largest Private Companies,” and is currently ranked no. 17 by FORTUNE® magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Jim Moran is the only automobile dealer ever to be featured on the cover of TIME magazine. His net worth was $2.4 billion at the time of his death in 2007.

The mission of The Jim Moran Institute is to cultivate, train and inspire entrepreneurial leaders in the community through world-class education programs and curriculum, intensive consulting assistance and mentorship to entrepreneurs and business owners, leading-edge academic research and applied education and public recognition.

This internship will help build your portfolio, resume and meet the internship requirements for college credit.

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and development of social media strategy and content
  • Provide social media analytics and performance measures
  • Draft press releases and articles
  • Assist with marketing the Entrepreneurship program to students
  • Develop and post website content
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Internship Requirements:

  • Ability to continue internship through Fall semester
  • Minimum of 20 hours per week with a consistent schedule
  • Vast knowledge of social media
  • Professional performance in terms of conduct, timeliness and deadlines
  • Excellent writing and communication skills using AP Style
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly

*Experience with Adobe InDesign and graphic design skills are not required, but are helpful.
