The Children’s Campaign Inc. has an opening for a Senior Systems Administrator. We are looking for a paid intern to commit 15 to 20 hours a week.
1. Job Description
Responsible for ensuring the technology infrastructure is properly implemented, configured, maintained, and supported. The technology infrastructure includes hardware (servers, workstations, printers, networking equipment, telephones) as well as all software that runs upon them.
Ensures proper security measures including physical, operational, and policies are implemented. This includes disaster recovery policy planning to properly restore the organization to normal operating procedures following a disaster with minimal loss of data and equipment, user account profile creation and deletion following hiring and termination of employees, and measures in place to keep data secure and only accessible by those permitted.
Research, test, and propose new technological solutions that will have a positive impact on the organization through increased productivity, efficiency, or capability.
Coordinates with the other Technology Intern positions to ensure they properly support the infrastructure. Coordinates with the Messaging Team to ensure proper messaging functions are able to be performed correctly and efficiently.
2. Detailed Task Execution
- Actively maintain communication with Executive Staff about organization’s current events and issues, both technical and non-technical related
- Supervise and guide junior interns on their responsibilities and roles
- Check email on a daily basis, both in and out of the office
- Keep in safe possession of building and server room keys in case of system issues outside of normal office hours
- Regularly check status and operating condition of:
- Servers
● Hardware – operating temperature, condition of components (hard drive health, etc)
● Software – regularly check event logs for unusual behavior, maintain implemented security policies are in place
- Workstations
- Printers
- Networking infrastructure
- Phone system
- Regularly checks status and viability of backup solutions, both of the local and remote nature
- Actively ensures that front-end users are able to perform daily tasks using all implemented technology
- Research and propose new solutions as the organization expands and grows
- Performs miscellaneous tasks assigned by front-end users to meet deadlines and distribute workloads in an efficient manner
- Responsible for administration of Windows Server 2008 running Active Directory and FreeNAS backup server serving as firewall and file server.
3. Preferred Skills
- Experience with Windows Server 2008 Small Business Server
- Knowledge of Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office
- General IT & Helpdesk Experience
