Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.

Working knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field to include at least three years of experience with the following application development technologies:
* Web development using: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax
* Development of dynamic web pages using Java or ColdFusion
* Using SQL to query a wide variety of databases (ex. DB2, UDB, and Oracle)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including administrators, faculty, and subject matter experts.
Experience prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Experience with documenting processes (new and existing).
Experience working successfully in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems to support the University’s or department’s business applications. Gathers requirements from users, creates specifications, and develops and writes code to support new and existing applications. Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs applications.

Serves as a member of the Student Information Systems group that focuses on the use of information technology as relates to student systems. In conjunction with the business analysis team, this position designs, analyzes, develops, deploys, installs, modifies, and supports systems that enhance productivity within FSU departments. This includes gathering requirements from users and developing specifications to support new and existing applications.

Works with the business analysis section and project management teams to establish project plans and provide technical analysis of proposed solutions. Analyses usage trends and develops pertinent standards and guidelines.

Learns and evaluates new technologies, both individually and in collaboration with peers to enhance delivery of services. Identifies current and future needs to ensure that applications support the departmental missions.
Other support services as required, such as assisting with user acceptance testing, etc.
