Assistant Professor, Information Security & Information Systems, University of North Texas, Denton

The Department of Library and Information Sciences (LIS) at the College of Information of the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track, faculty position in information security and information systems at the rank of assistant professor.

Responsibilities:  Teach, conduct research and provide service in an academic tenure-track position with emphasis on information technology, information security and information systems. Candidate must demonstrate ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities. Candidate is expected to teach core courses, within LIS and possibly cross-listed, with an emphasis in information security, assurance and/or privacy; coordinate students’ practicum experiences and develop close relationships with practitioners and educators in these fields. Candidate should be willing to work closely with doctoral students and to serve on dissertation committees.

Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Information Science, Computer Science or other related fields at the time of appointment. Expertise in two or more of the following areas: information security, information assurance, privacy, crisis management, information visualization, data mining and information network technologies. Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research and scholarship with experience/expertise in the broad area of Information Science. Preference given to candidates with a demonstrated record of funded scholarly research, publication and research productivity in the areas of information security, assurance and privacy.

Salary and benefits: Faculty appointments are for nine months with opportunities for summer teaching. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A choice of retirement plans and employer-funded health insurance is available.
