Department – Dean’s Office, College of Human Sciences
Responsibilities
Responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating the use of visual or electronic media. Designs and implements strategies based on College goals. These may include but are not limited to web and digital media, direct mail, advertising, public and media relations, special events, database management, electronic social media techniques, events, newsletters, brochures, and other relevant vehicles. May create graphics, hard copies, and photographs for publications or websites. Designs, maintains and improves the College website. Works with departments to maintain the website, including but not limited to design, faculty and staff information, upcoming events, and departmental center information. Collaborates with the Dean*s office with projects, college-wide web events, and any other special events. Responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and managing all alumni and donor events hosted and requested by the Dean*s Office and taking the lead role when assigned. Assists the Director of Development with general operating tasks including but not limited to donor and alumni materials, expense reports and special recognition cards. Serves as a member of the Dean*s staff team assisting with tasks and office coverage as needed, and provides support in preparation and throughout Board of Governors meetings. Develops and maintains relationships with other Florida State University departments such as University Relations, the FSU Alumni Association, the FSU Foundation, and the Career Center in order to collaborate on events and programs. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma or equivalency and six years of experience related to the duties of this position.(Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.) Experience demonstrating effective customer service and communication skills. Experience communicating effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing. Experience or knowledge of current media technology and trends. Experience with or knowledge of marketing research techniques and tools. Knowledge of journalism ethics, rules, and procedures. Experience with and/or the knowledge of principles and practices of event planning and the ability to coordinate, organize and evaluate meetings and/or events. Experience with web design and development.
