The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Library seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and flexible Head of Circulation Librarian to join our service-oriented team. The Library serves a vibrant campus community with 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students in beautiful southeastern Wisconsin, convenient to both Madison and Milwaukee.

Position: Head of Circulation
Academic Staff Rank: Academic Librarian (depending on qualifications), renewable annual full-time, 12-month appointment
Starting Date: June 1, 2013 (negotiable)
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Director of the Library.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the overall operation of the Circulation Department including circulation, stacks maintenance, online/onsite reserve, instructional technology equipment collection, document delivery, and interlibrary loan. (Library is open 107.5 hours/week during regular semester.)
- Train, develop, and supervise unit personnel (currently 6.5 FTE staff plus approximately 40 student assistants).
- Serve as a member of the Library’s management team and play a leadership role in collaborative development of library policies and strategic plans including setting and implementing short-term and long-term operational goals and objectives for the unit.
- Serve as a backup person for the Systems Librarian.
- Serve as the library facilities coordinator.
- Provide oversight under direction of library director for library events and public relations.
- Some weekend and evening rotation is expected.
- Represent the library on campus and statewide committees.
Qualifications
Required:
- ALA-accredited MLS.
- Progressive supervisory and administrative experience.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement projects.
- Experience managing an automated circulation system and creating reports.
- Knowledge of digital information resources.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in circulation, interlibrary loan, traditional and electronic reserves, and document delivery.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Strong commitment to public service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse patron group.
Preferred:
- Second advanced degree in an academic discipline.
- Knowledge and experience working with digital content.
- Familiarity or experience with graphic design and associated software.
- Circulation management experience in an academic library.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
