Health Information Technology Department Manager @ Hospital Authority of Miller County

Job Summary: 
The Health Information Technology Department Manager, or IS Manager, leads strategic and operational planning to achieve goals by fostering innovation, setting priorities among Information Technology (IT) initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization. Under the direction of the Director of Information Systems, the IT Manager provides management direction and leadership for IT systems development, analysis and design, programming, implementation and acquisition of computer and communications equipment. The IT Manager is responsible to the HIPAA Security Officer and maintains HIPAA Security compliance.
Education & Experience: 
Minimum Associates Degree (Computer Science, Network Certifications (Juniper preferred), Accounting, Math or Business), Bachelor’s Degree preferred
The position requires over five (5) years in management level positions in an acute hospital setting and in Information Technology with the following competencies:
  • Experience maintaining EHR (Cerner) in a hospital and/or medical practice setting.
  • Experience supervising technical staff to appropriately manage the server, storage and network environment.
  • In depth knowledge of information system security (e.g., Health Information Portability & Accountability Act, user access management/auditing, roll-based access, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of hospital operations, interdepartmental procedures and interdisciplinary workflows.  Knowledge of the processes in an ambulatory setting is helpful.
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities, complex projects and tasks.
  • Exceptionally good judgment when analyzing facts and solving problems.  Recognizing and prioritizing patient safety issues appropriately is critical.
Other experience that will be helpful in this position, including the following:
  • Experience with project management tools, techniques and principals.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Libraries such as NIST, ISO 20000, SAFER Guides, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of the systems development lifecycle and designing/implementing enterprise products in a complex environment.
