General Summary:

The Florida Senate is seeking an Information Systems Programmer/Analyst to serve in the Office of Senate Information Technology. This position requires software development expertise in a multi-tier architecture and distributed production environment. This position defines designs, codes, documents and implements application solutions in line with the established architecture and interfaces (.Net and SQL Server).  The successful candidate will work with the latest Microsoft tools in a forward-thinking environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Research, design and develop .NET applications.
  • Consult with Business Analysts and users in defining system specifications.
  • Prepare documentation of programs and systems flow charts, narratives, test data, report formats, schedules and job work flow.
  • Document functional and technical design specifications from user requirements.
  • Develop, execute and review unit test scripts.
  • Develops comprehensive test data for systems tests.
  • Assist in the identification and implementing developmental improvements.
  • Coordinate the implementation and deployment of newly developed software.
  • Analyze and correct problems in existing systems and develops process to correct.
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems.
  • Develops procedures for troubleshooting malfunctions in existing systems.
  • Write, prepare and/or review system, application and user documentation.
  • Develop and provide management status briefings.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.

Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling seven years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Extensive knowledge and actual work experience with .NET Framework, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and systems design.
  • Experience in Object Oriented design and Software Development Life Cycles.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems design.
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages: C#.NET, SQL, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of XHTML, XML, and XSLT.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (DB2, SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Ability to design, develop and test sophisticated applications, including but not limited to the client PC, network, Intranet, Internet and database servers.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret computer program data.
  • Ability to process information logically.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements.
  • Ability to prepare program specifications.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, design skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in .NET framework.

Salary:

$49,416 – $101,436 (Hiring salary commensurate with experience)
