The faculty of the University Library at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a tenure track position in the Reference/Instruction department. Responsibilities As Web Services Librarian, coordinates, develops and implements the Library’s web presence and mobile site; maintains and updates the Library’s website and serves as principal developer of the Library’s primary web pages; provides planning and assistance of all types of data migration within web related projects; works closely with reference librarians to develop user-, course- and subject-oriented web pages including online tutorials, videos and other web- and mobile-based library services; provides technical support and assists colleagues and other library departments in creating web pages; assembles, distributes and evaluates site analytics; specifically assists CSUDH & CSU Archives & Special Collections with integration of web content created by services such as ContentDM, Archives Space and the Online Archives of California; works closely with campus web development staff in the creation and oversight of university and library web policies and standards; maintains a working knowledge of emerging technologies critical to the delivery of web-based services to students; works collaboratively with the Systems Librarian on related projects.
As Reference and Instruction Librarian, regularly serves at the Reference Desk using the print and electronic collections; prepares materials for and conducts library instruction on the use of library services and resources. Must be able to work some evening and weekend reference desk assignments.
As Tenure-Track Faculty, contributes to the discipline through publications and conference presentations and engages in other professional development activities; participates in library-wide projects including participation in grants; serves on Library and University committees and other shared governance; keeps abreast of current developments in librarianship and instructional technologies. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education and Library Experience
* Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school; substantial years of librarian experience required if appointed as an Associate Librarian.
* Familiarity with instruction methods and technologies; familiarity with electronic information resources.
Technical skills and experience
*Knowledge of effective web design and information architecture; demonstrated ability to build effective websites that are user- and instruction-oriented.
* Experience and proficiency with web design and development applications and scripting languages, such as HTML, CSS, XML, Adobe Photoshop and JavaScript
* Experience building dynamic web applications with relational databases and a web programming language
* Experience designing for multiple browsers (e.g. IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera)
* Knowledge of best practices, standards, issues and trends relevant to the web, information technology and social media.
*Flexible and open to incorporating new developments in web technology appropriate to adoption in the academic library environment.
*Working knowledge of MS Office, Photoshop, and other common applications.
*Familiarity with ADA web compliance and accessibility issues and techniques.
* Knowledge of usability testing and user assessment methods.

* Experience with e-resource management/access tools such as SFX, Metalib, EBSCO’s A Z Service, other link resolvers and discovery tools.
* Experience building dynamic web applications with PHP and MySQL.
* Experience with graphic design, video and audio applications.
* Experience with Innovative Interfaces Millennium.
* Experience with usability testing and user assessment methods.
* Education in computer science or web development.
* Professional experience in reference and instruction Faculty Pay & Benefits Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, and salary will be dependent upon qualifications and professional experience.
