Learning Commons and FYE Librarian

Job Description:

Develop a marketing strategy that promotes Learning Commons services and activities to the AUC community and external users and assess the impact of Learning Commons function and activities
Lead outreach efforts by identifying and developing strategies to enhance perceptions of the Learning Commons and engagement with its resources, services, and programs
Lead the development and maintenance of the self-paced information literacy course; (including current and developing trends in AI, digital, visual literacies), collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy competencies into the instruction sessions, course contents and assignments
Develop, deliver, and assess relevant introductory workshops, instructional guides, orientations, and promotional materials – including tutorials, social media, and related learning objects.
Promote digital literacy within the community, and provide assistance in the use of a wide range of technology and related resources.
Oversee daily operations of physical and virtual Learning Commons services
Explore and develop new ways and means of improving performance of the Learning Commons.
Prepare and compile Learning Commons-related reports and statistics.
Engage in the assessment of student learning outcomes relevant to the library and utilize the outcome for service enhancements.
Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with students, staff, and all members of the AUC community in support of student success initiatives.
Serve as the library’s contact for all FYE Initiatives and partner with key campus programs that support the first-year experience;  develop and coordinate library programs and partnerships related to first-year student experience at AUC.
Collaborate in the design, delivery, and facilitation of instructional programs and student success initiatives/events in support of first-year students.
Collaborate, internally and externally, with:
– Library research team: lead the development of the content of the information literacy self-paced course, create online learning objects, such as LibWizard quizzes, videos, and tutorials in support of information literacy
– One Stop Shop & Rare Books Library: assist in the design and implementation of new programs, services, and exhibits that will facilitate information discovery and collaborative learning for all students.
– Center for Learning and Teaching: create and maintain Digital Learning Objects using instructional design best practices; co-plan the library STA program, collaborate on the programs of the library commons space as one of the university’s informal learning spaces
– Academy of Liberal Arts: work closely with academy’s faculty & instructors, serve on the Freshman Program Coordinating Committee, review and make decisions on Timely Completion Policy petitions related to LALT 1020 violations; collaborate with RHET on shared areas of curriculum and instruction.
– Campus schools and programs promote and facilitate the use of quality learning resources in multiple formats and maximize student and faculty use and engagement.

Requirements:

MA degree from an accredited university; preferably Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.

2-3 years of related work experience in a library or learning commons environment.

A background in higher education learning environments is preferred

Strong commitment to digital and information literacy instruction.
Computer skills and familiarity with emerging technologies.
Excellent oral, written, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with current theory, practices, issues, and trends related to meta-literacy
