Lecturer in Information Services – Faculty Position

The University of Washington Information School (iSchool) is seeking a creative individual to teach in the area of information services and collection management. iSchool lecturers focus on teaching, pedagogy, working with diverse populations, and bringing professional experience into the classroom to create exceptional learning opportunities. Our new colleagues will join a broad-based, inclusive Information School with multiple degree programs committed to the values of leadership, innovation, and diversity. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

We are seeking individuals with deep expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Information services, research and reference services in all formats and settings, use of social media to deliver and promote library services.

Collection management, development and application of selection policies, selection and deselection, book reviewing, and assessment of collection strength.

User group needs analysis in regard to identifying collective needs for services and collections.

Evaluation of service quality, identification and assessment of service outcomes, and strategic planning for services and collections.

This is a full-time 9 month appointment with faculty voting rights anticipated at the rank of Lecturer Full-time or Senior Lecturer Full-time commensurate with qualifications and experience (opportunities to teach in the summer may become available). Applicants must have a Masters Degree or equivalent degree by date of appointment. Three years of professional experience and prior teaching experience is desirable.
