Assistant Librarian @ UCF Libraries

The Opportunity 
University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries seeks a full-time curious librarian to provide in-person and virtual instruction and research services for students and faculty. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment. This position plays an important role in developing and implementing innovative solutions for library initiatives that support the scholarly, teaching, and learning goals of the university. We will hire at the rank of Assistant Librarian. (NOTE: The primary work location for this position is on UCF main campus, with travel to Seminole State College of Florida as needed. Night and weekend shifts may be required.)

This position reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Engagement. The unit includes librarians assigned to academic programs and learning communities, research consultation, instruction services, and engagement with campus partners. The UCF Connect Librarian is expected to be a collaborative, strategic, and innovative team member. Professional service and scholarly contributions are expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides instructional and research support for UCF classes held on the main campus and at the Seminole State College of Florida campus
  • Serves as embedded librarian for courses as requested
  • Participates in UCF Connect administrative events and activities
  • Acts as point of contact with UCF Libraries for students, faculty, and staff
  • Serves as liaison for assigned programs
  • Collaborates with subject area faculty and partner college librarians
  • Works collaboratively with other departments across the UCF Libraries
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an accredited institution, or terminal degree in a relevant field at time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of emerging trends in academic libraries
  • Experience in providing face-to-face and virtual instruction and research services
  • Experience in providing library instruction, research consultations, or outreach and engagement services
