The Springfield City Library seeks applications for a full-time Children’s Librarian in the Children’s Room. The Central Library is the heart of our busy library system. Come work at our forward-looking, award-winning public library. We are recruiting talented, community-engaged candidates for this full-time, 37.5 hours a week job. The Children’s Librarian is part of a four person team and is responsible for collection development of print and non-print materials, programming, reference services, outreach, community engagement, and similar duties pertaining to children’s services, and assisting in developing and providing system-wide children’s services. We’re looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Masters of Library Science. Candidates currently enrolled in an MLS program may also be considered. You’ll need an excellent customer service orientation; and a “turned outward” approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language). The City of Springfield has a residency requirement and allows new hires up to a year to establish residency.
