Data Management Librarian @ Texas A&M University Libraries

We seek a creative and dynamic professional to join the Texas A&M University Libraries as Data Management Librarian. We are hiring one individual for a full-time, tenure-track/tenured position with an 11-month academic appointment beginning Summer or Fall 2020. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor depending on qualifications.

 

Reporting to the Dean through the Director of Research Data Management Services, The Data Management Librarian will advance the Libraries efforts to support the research data needs of a diverse community of scholars at a vibrant, land-, sea-, and space-grant institution. The successful candidate will join a new team of individuals who value collaborations and creative solutions that increase research productivity and impact throughout the research data lifecycle. With support from the members of the Research Data Management Services team and our stakeholders, the incumbent will implement systemic programs that couple outreach, education, tools, and policies to enable innovative modes of scholarship at Texas A&M University. Under the guidance of the Director, the Data Management Librarian:

 

  • Collaborates with the Research Data Management Services team and other stakeholders in the Libraries and on campus to develop and provide data management services.
  • Partners with researchers to evaluate data planning needs and assess options for sharing data.
  • Delivers data management instruction both in-person and online.
  • Creates and maintains learning materials describing guidelines, best practices, and services.
  • Consults with Texas Digital Libraries partners to advance the capability and use of the Texas Data Repository.
  • Supports Libraries and TAMU diversity initiatives.
  • Engages in research, publication, and professional service as required of tenure-track/tenured faculty.

 

This is a tenure-track academic appointment carrying full faculty status and responsibilities include engaging in research activities leading to publications and national service to meet both the Libraries’ and the University’s requirements for tenure and promotion.

Salary/Benefits/Rank: Faculty rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience; minimum starting salary will be $50,500. Excellent benefits include health plan and paid life insurance; several retirement plans including TIAA; paid holidays; no state or local income tax. Funding is provided for professional travel and development activities.
