Working with the Digital Projects Librarian, reviews the collection, physically prepares materials for digitization, and creates a pre-digitization spreadsheet. Working with the Digital Projects Librarian and the Head of Digital Initiatives, reviews copyright status of materials in the collection and assigns standardized rights statements. Working with the Digital Production Manager, completes digitization training and develops a plan for digitizing materials in the collection. Converts physical materials in the Erwin G. Harris Archives to digital formats using an Epson flatbed scanner and other equipment as needed. Processes and edits digital images using software including Capture One and Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop, etc. Manages large numbers of digital files, ensures that they are named, organized, and stored correctly according to archival and preservation standards. Handles fragile and rare materials in accordance with best practice guidelines. Independently identifies issues during digitization as they arise and works with the Digital Production Manager to resolve them. Working with the Digital Projects Librarian, prepares spreadsheets and metadata and performs other duties as assigned to assist with the ingest of digitized materials to the CONTENTdm repository. Completes project documentation and communicates with Digital Initiatives staff about any outstanding tasks. Assists with promotion of the project, as needed.
