Director of the Law Library @ Villanova University

Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law seeks an outstanding librarian and academic administrator to lead its Law Library. Academic law libraries are facing dramatic challenges, including rapidly changing information technologies and new teaching pedagogies and research methods. At Villanova, these developments are occurring within the context of broader, equally dramatic changes. Villanova University was recently categorized by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral University, reflecting the University’s forward momentum as well as the strength of its academic programs and research. Under its first Provost, the University is enhancing collaborative relationships across colleges and programs. In 2016, a $25 million gift from Charles Widger led to the renaming of the Charles Widger School of Law. The Law School’s new Where Law Meets Business approach has introduced curricular innovations and facilitated the hiring of three new tenure-track and tenured faculty members in the last two years. These developments collectively create a unique opportunity for the Law Library Director to create a new vision for the Law Library and its relationship to the Law School and University, reflecting the library’s crucial role in shaping the future of legal education. Creating and implementing this vision will require strong leadership, including administrative, financial, organizational, and collaborative skills.
