What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Original and Complex Copy Cataloging
  *   Performs original and complex copy cataloging of both print and non-print materials in various formats, languages, and subject areas.
  *   Applies local and international cataloging standards in cataloging resources in print and other formats, including the standards for the interpretation and creation of authority records.
  *   Contributes to the team’s Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) work, particularly by creating BIBCO-level bibliographic records and NACO-level authority records.
  *   Contributes to the team’s participation in the Library of Congress CIP Partnership Program by cataloging CIP titles.
  *   Engages in RDS linked data initiatives.
Copy Cataloging Operations Oversight
  *   Manages the print-based copy cataloging processes and workflow for new acquisitions, gifts, serials, and Asian language materials.
  *   Directs the team’s print-based retrospective cataloging projects, which may include materials primarily handled by other sections.
  *   Coordinates cataloging projects in collaboration with other chapters or campus units. Sets priorities for cataloging projects, developing and implementing strategies to ensure successful completion.
  *   Manages the team’s vendor cataloging processes.
  *   Oversees the team’s catalog maintenance activities (withdrawals, replacements, added copies).
  *   Monitors the quality of the team’s print-based copy cataloging activities and provides assessment of team members’ performance as part of the annual review process.
  *   Participates in hiring new cataloging personnel.
  *   Resolves difficult cataloging problems as they arise.
Section Lead Duties
  *   Ensures that section members collaborate to successfully work, implement and complete the strategic priorities of the Libraries.
  *   Establishes priorities for section work in conjunction with other team and section leads.
  *   Supervises, evaluates, and participates in hiring team or section members.
Procedures/Instruction
  *   Updates team procedures manuals with current practices. Formulates procedural changes in coordination with supervisors.
  *   Maintains and updates the Copy Cataloging Manual.
  *   Designs training material for changed and new procedures. May train new faculty members on local cataloging practices.
Communication
  *   Informs team and section leads of major concerns and problems and devises appropriate solutions.
  *   Communicates with personnel in other chapters, teams, and sections regarding procedures, answers questions in a timely manner, and explains current activities.
  *   Represents the Resource Description Services Team in appropriate venues.
Professional Development/Service
  *   Pursues an active program of continuing education to remain current in national cataloging standards and technology.
  *   Monitors linked data issues and trends.
  *   Participates in learning activities that promote inclusive excellence.
  *   Identifies and encourages participation in relevant professional development and cross-training opportunities for staff.
  *   Participates in University and Library committees, task forces, and other groups as appropriate.
What You Should Know
This position may be remote 1 – 2 days per week with the balance of time spent on campus.

What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $54,000 to $59,000.

What We Require
  *   Bachelors Degree.
  *   Two years of original cataloging experience, using MARC formats, RDA/AACR2 and Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging policy statements, LC Classification, and LC Subject Headings. Experience cataloging on OCLC and in an integrated library system.
  *   Knowledge of at least one non-English language adequate to determine the subject and some detail when cataloging titles written in a foreign language.
  *   Two years of supervisory experience.
