Southeastern Louisiana University’s Sim Memorial Library invites applications for the Head of Access Services. The Head of Access Services provides leadership to the Access Services department in response to the changing physical and digital resource needs. The Librarian is responsible for the provision of excellent service and the efficient operation of access services functions including oversight of circulation, course reserves, interlibrary/document delivery, stacks maintenance, building access, group study rooms, study carrels, and technology checkouts. The Librarian will lead efforts to assess Access Services and to develop clear documentation regarding policies and services. Collaborates with colleagues to provide research assistance and copyright education. Monitors trends and recommends emerging technologies for circulation, resource sharing and technology. Maintains online user guides and implements software changes. Trains and supervises full-time and student staff. Collects and maintains statistical data related to building use and circulation and resource sharing activities.
Required Qualifications
Graduate degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association or from a program in a country with a formal accreditation process as identified by ALA’s Human Resource Development and Recruitment Office.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience within an academic library setting.
Evidence of professional service and/or research in the field of library science.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Experience collaborating with diverse groups and library departments to promote student success.
Experience managing employees, preferably in a library setting
